With drones being an important asset in the Ukrainian Defense Army, the need to increase the quantity of drone technology has skyrocketed over the last months. This high demand introduced Germany and Latvia to the scene. Both countries have launched a drone initiative followed by a Drone Demonstration Day to raise financial support from partner EU nations.  

Oleksij Makajew, Ukrainian ambassador in Germany, was present during the event and thanked everyone for their immense support. Oleksij claimed that drones play a crucial role in Ukraine´s fight for freedom, and this initiative is compatible with the Ukrainian´s ideas and needs.

The Ukraine Defense Contact Group - known as the Capability Coalition - provide Ukraine with solutions such as armored vehicles, drones, and air defense. Latvia and Great Britain are taking care of the drone capability coalition to boost Ukraine´s defense section. The coalition puts significant efforts in prioritizing the drone arsenal due to the high demand for first-person view drones, as Ukraine focuses on operating reconnaissance drones, kamikaze drones, and target drones. Germany has started this drone initiative with Latvia´s help to provide Ukraine with the necessary systems needed.

Christian Freuding, major general and head of the Ukraine Special Staff, quotes: `We have specifically focused on products and companies that are able to deliver very quickly. We will see an impact on the battlefield in Ukraine as early as 2024´.

Representatives of partner nations and Ukraine, and manufacturers were able to come into direct contact through this Drone Demonstration Day and witness the ready-to-go technologies, as Ukraine insists on systems that are ready to be operated as soon as possible.
