Bavarian Minister President Markus Söder Visits Quantum Systems in Gilching

On 10 October 2025, Bavarian Minister President Dr. Markus Söder and State Minister Markus Blume visited Quantum Systems’ headquarters in Gilching, near Munich. The visit highlighted Bavaria’s growing role in Europe’s high-tech and defence landscape—particularly in the fast-advancing field of unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
The timing was notable: recent drone sightings over critical infrastructure have intensified the discussion around how European-made technology can enhance both national security and industrial sovereignty. In this context, Quantum Systems showcased how innovation “Made in Bavaria” is helping to protect infrastructure, improve situational awareness, and strengthen defence capabilities.
Strengthening Bavaria’s Vision for Security Leadership
Bavaria has set an ambitious goal: to become Germany’s number one region for security and innovation. Quantum Systems is a key player in this vision through its advanced technologies and strong local footprint.
The company contributes by:
- Producing next-generation unmanned systems for reconnaissance and counter-UAS missions
- Developing AI-driven mission software that enables real-time situational awareness and autonomous operations
- Expanding industrial capacity in Bavaria, creating new high-tech jobs in the drone and robotics sector
Technology Made in Bavaria, for Europe’s Security
During the visit, Dr. Söder and Minister Blume explored the company’s production and R&D facilities. They met with Quantum Systems’ leadership team to discuss ongoing projects and received a briefing on the company’s interceptor drone, designed to protect critical infrastructure from hostile aerial threats.
The demonstration underlined the growing importance of autonomous systems in modern defence—not only as tools for information gathering, but also as key enablers of deterrence and rapid response.
Innovation, Sovereignty, and Growth
Quantum Systems’ technology portfolio reflects Bavaria’s broader strategic goals: to secure technological sovereignty, foster industrial innovation, and ensure that Europe remains competitive in the global defence and robotics markets.
The company’s ongoing expansion plans in Gilching will strengthen local supply chains, attract top engineering talent, and reinforce Bavaria’s reputation as a European hub for unmanned systems and AI-powered defence technology.
A Partnership for the Future
Quantum Systems expressed its appreciation to the Bavarian State Government for its continued support and vision. As Dr. Söder emphasized during his visit, investing in cutting-edge security technologies not only protects critical infrastructure—it also strengthens Bavaria’s position as a center of excellence for innovation and resilience.
With a clear commitment to advancing drone technology, Bavaria is charting a course toward a safer, more autonomous future—built on innovation, collaboration, and regional strength.
