WISPR Systems Launches SkyScout 2 and 2+: Smarter, Tougher, and Built for Professionals

WISPR Systems has unveiled the SkyScout 2 and SkyScout 2+, the newest generation of its flagship drone platform designed specifically for professionals in surveying, mapping, and inspection. With these launches, WISPR is doubling down on its mission to advance American-made drone technology that combines precision, durability, and operator-focused design.

The new SkyScout models were built after close consultation with industry experts. Professionals in construction, utilities, and infrastructure inspection often demand drones that can handle difficult environments, maintain reliable performance under pressure, and deliver data with accuracy. The SkyScout 2 and 2+ respond to those needs with a long list of upgrades in safety, efficiency, and operator experience.

Raising the Bar on Reliability

The SkyScout 2 introduces several new technologies that make flights safer and more dependable.

  • S Port quick-attach system: This feature allows operators to integrate payloads faster while supporting an increased payload capacity of 3.65 pounds (1.65 kg)—without reducing flight time. For surveyors and inspectors, this means carrying heavier cameras or sensors with no trade-off in performance.
  • TempGuard Dynamic Climate Control: By regulating airflow, TempGuard keeps the drone’s internal components at an optimal temperature, even in extreme weather conditions. That makes it a reliable partner whether working in scorching heat or freezing cold.
  • SmartCore Smart Power Distribution System: This system provides redundancy and battery protection, ensuring safer and more efficient power delivery during long missions.
  • Precision Terrain Follow with TerrainSense: When GPS is unreliable—such as in canyons, valleys, or under dense vegetation—TerrainSense ensures accurate altitude and safe low-level flight.
  • PathGuard Long Range Obstacle Detection: With sensors that detect obstacles up to 164 feet ahead and behind, pilots gain confidence when flying in challenging environments.
  • SignalShield Advanced EMI Protection: By minimizing interference risks near power lines, cell towers, and other high-interference zones, this feature makes the SkyScout 2 ideal for utility inspections.

John McArthur, WISPR Systems’ VP of Sales and Marketing, summed it up:

“SkyScout 2 represents a leap forward in precision drone technology. These upgrades give professionals the confidence to fly further, safer, and more efficiently.”

A Smarter Pilot Experience with SkyScout 2+

While the SkyScout 2 brings major advances to the drone itself, the SkyScout 2+ elevates the operator’s experience with the introduction of the WISPR SkyBoss smart controller.

The SkyBoss is built for real-world job sites:

  • A 7-inch, 2000-nit display that stays clear even under bright sunlight.
  • Rugged design meeting MIL-STD-810 drop standards and IP55 weather protection.
  • AES-256 encrypted transmission, ensuring secure communication for sensitive data.
  • Multiple roll wheels and intuitive controls for more efficient operations.
  • Hot-swappable batteries that keep the mission going.
  • Up to six hours of runtime, giving pilots more time in the field without constant recharging.

“With SkyScout 2+, we wanted to reimagine not only the aircraft but the operator experience,” McArthur explained. “The WISPR SkyBoss empowers professionals to work faster, longer, and with the confidence that only WISPR innovation can provide.”

Availability and Market Impact

The SkyScout 2 is available now, while the SkyScout 2+ will hit the market in early October through WISPR Systems and its authorized distributors.

The timing is significant. With industries like construction, utilities, and infrastructure inspection under pressure to deliver faster and more precise results, drones are becoming an indispensable tool. WISPR’s focus on durability, safety, and operator empowerment positions it strongly against both domestic and international competitors.

By releasing the SkyScout 2 and 2+, WISPR is sending a clear message: professional drone operators no longer have to compromise between performance, reliability, and ease of use. These new models promise to make data collection safer, smarter, and more efficient—helping businesses save time and reduce risks in the field.

For surveyors measuring the contours of a construction site, inspectors checking miles of power lines, or mapping professionals working in remote terrain, the SkyScout 2 family delivers what matters most: confidence in the mission, no matter the conditions.
