US ban did not stop DJI from tech know-hows! In September, the Chinese drones manufacturer launched their new ultra-compact DJI Neo drone earlier this September, a drone that claims the name of drone with selfie genes.  

The new DJI Neo is a 135g drone, making it DJI´s lightest and most compact drone yet. It is mainly made for anyone looking for a pure camera drone, especially people who want to create unique aerial photographs such as vloggers and content creators. DJI Neo´s design:

The DJI Neo is made from one piece and cannot be folded. Its light weight of 135g allows users to carry the drone in a small backpack or a handbag easily. The propellers of the DJI Neo are protected by a plastic frame, the upper propeller guards can be removed if wanted.  

The drone´s control panel is on top and contains a button and six LEDs, right above the camera. The panel helps users choose the operating mode and fly the drone without a controller or a smartphone.  

DJI Neo´s battery is inserted from below. It can be charged via a USB-C port. Users can also charge two batteries thanks to the two-way charging station, allowing them to have extended fly time.

A drone aimed towards selfies and videography needs a compatible camera. DJI Neo´s camera contains a 1/2-inch sensor. When it comes to video recordings, the drone captures 4k videos at up to 30fps, 1080p at up to 60fps, and FHD at 50 or 30fps.  

Different control options:

DJI Neo might be the new record holder for most types of control. The drone can be controlled using the following:

• without controller in automatic mode with manual start.

• with DJI RC-N3 controller and smartphone, i.e. classic flight via the DJI Fly app.

• with DJI RC-N3 controller without app and smartphone.

• with smartphone via WiFi connection to the DJI Fly app.

• via voice commands via WiFi direct connection to the Fly App.

• in FPV mode with the Goggles 3 and the DJI RC Motion 3 Controller.

• in FPV mode with the Goggles 3 and the DJI FPV Remote Controller 3 including manual mode.
